Nicholas is one month old today! In a way it seems like this month has flown by and in other ways it seems like it was forever ago that he was born. As everyone says, "It gets easier with time" we can definitely attest to this.
At this point, Nicholas normally goes 3-4 hours between feedings and can sleep up to about 3 1/2 hours in one stretch (most of the time it's usually 2-3 hours). He has his fussy moments, but nothing compared to the second night in the hospital and that first week at home. He is starting to "talk" but just a little bit. I believe each day his neck muscles are getting stronger and stronger as he holds his head up for longer periods of time. He can focus on your face, but still has many times where he looks like he is just staring off into space. He really enjoys looking at the lights in a room.
We aren't sure what his measurements are but can tell he is gaining weight from seeing the beginnings of little rolls on his legs. I am no longer able to dress him in the newborn clothes, so he is now in 3 month onesies. He doesn't quite fill them out yet, but the length is just about right on him. We have also moved on to the size one diapers.
Each day that passes, we are grateful that Nicholas has not shown signs or symptoms of colic. From hearing stories from friends and family, I can't imagine having to go through that misery. Hopefully he can stay away from that one...
Nicholas has had several outings so far including trips to our indispensable babysitters Mimi and Pop and Beth and Brad; a visit to the great-grandparents house, back to Brookwood for my check-up, a house-warming party for a friend, church at First Baptist in Leeds and an attempt at our church Asbury (which only lasted until the associate pastor was able to make his way up the aisle).
We are so looking forward to what this next month has to bring and fall more in love with this little boy every day. Here is a mix of pictures from this past month. He has grown so much! Happy One Month Nicholas!
