2 Months Old!

Nicholas is officially two months old today! It seems like so long ago that we were walking down to labor and delivery at Brookwood.

So many things have changed over this past month. He is actually smiling in response to us and not just because he was dreaming or had gas. We still don't know what in the world he is smiling about sometimes, but it doesn't matter because that smile is so sweet! He has recently started sticking out his tongue at us. There is no rhyme or reason for this but I'm assuming it's rather normal.

His neck muscles are getting stronger and stronger. Although I still call him a bobble head at times, he is definitely working on control and I know will have this mastered by 3 months. Nicholas also recently discovered his feet after daddy put some socks on him (which we have never done) and he couldn't stop lifting his feet up.

When stretched out, this little guy takes up most of the crib!

Nicholas doesn't have a real schedule yet, but is in the process of creating one. We normally put him down for the night between 9:30 and 10:30. He will wake up for his first feeding around 1-2am and then his next feeding around 5. He is very good at sleeping in between those feedings and for the most part will go back down rather quickly. We are still putting him on his stomach, which seems to be the preferred position. Nicholas is a morning person because most every morning we will kick back in the recliner and he will smile and talk to me for awhile. This will also normally happen in the early afternoon.

He easily fits into the three month old onesies and I can see him moving up to the 6 month clothes before too long. He is still wearing size 1 diapers but also fits into the size 2s. God bless Brad and Beth for throwing us the diaper shower and to everyone who bought us diapers or wipes! This boy can go through them in a hurry!

According to the pediatrician, Nicholas is "thriving," so we hope he continues on that path...

Sleeping like a champ!

This weekend Nicholas slept like a champ. Friday and Saturday evenings were spent at Mimi and Pop's house while we had a friends wedding festivities to attend. Whatever they did to him worked! Friday he slept for about 5 1/2 hours, which was a first. Then Saturday night, I put him down at 10:30pm and he slept until 5:45am! Of course we woke up in a bit of a panic because he had never come close to sleeping that long, but he was just fine.

I don't think we will be this lucky on a regular basis, but it is good to know that he can go that long sleeping in his crib! Our little guy turns two months old on Wednesday! Time is just flying by!

Daddy's Little Guy

Thanks daddy for making this sweet video. I hope Nicholas turns out just like you! (Make sure you have your speakers on for this one!)

Doctors Visit

Yesterday was Nicholas' second visit to the pediatrician. He now weighs 12 lbs 5 oz and is 24.5 inches long. The doctor said that he is "thriving"! Unfortunately yesterday also included four shots in addition to a vaccine given orally. When the nurse looked at his thighs (the location of all the shots) she said they were great - I guess it pays to have rolls in your legs when going through this process... Luckily the nurse went very fast and it was over in a few seconds. Of course he screamed, but I was able to calm him down pretty quickly. Afterwards, he was very content and even slept on the ride home. All in all it wasn't too bad.

Our next doctors visit isn't until he is 4 months old. I pray Nicholas will continue to grow and be healthy.

Weekend with Gigi and Pawpaw

Thanks Gigi and Pawpaw for coming to visit this weekend! We had fun just hanging out and are looking forward to the beach in a few weeks! Hopefully the weather will be as nice as our trip to the park on Sunday. Below is a picture taken by Gigi - isn't he so cute!! Another picture that Nicholas will thank us for later :-)

You can tell that Nicholas enjoyed the weekend from the clip below...

Tomorrow is our second visit to the pediatrician. We are anxious to find out Nicholas' new stats and hopefully he will get through all the shots without too much trouble.

Nicholas' first road trip

Another week of firsts...

We took Nicholas to the park for the first time on Thursday. While it was rather warm even at 6pm, it didn't seem to bother him.

The Davenport family also decided to take a day trip to Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden on Friday since Gabe had taken the day off. This was Nicholas' first road trip (the first of many I'm sure) and he did great the entire time (AKA - he slept the whole time).

Sitting right behind the conductor's whistle on the train that runs through the park couldn't wake this guy!

Even wildlife walking right up to him didn't faze him!

He sure did look cute in his little outfit and matching hat!

All smiles!

Gabe and I decided that Nicholas didn't really start smiling in response to us until this past weekend. We have tried many times to capture these fleeting moments on camera with no luck. However, after returning home from a trip to Grandmother and Granddaddy's he was all smiles and we finally got it on film. Next I'm looking forward to baby giggles...
